In John 10:10 Jesus declares
The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life

John 1:3-4 states
In Him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind
This implies that the life of Christ is the only source of true light – the spiritual illumination that leads, empowers, and changes us as children of God. In essence, if I have the abundant life of Jesus, then I have abundant light.
When we receive the life that Jesus offers, which is His own life, we also receive His light. His light brings clarity, direction, hope, and purpose, lighting up every area of our being. As Jesus Himself declares in John 8:12
‘I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.
This unveils a deep truth: Wherever there is darkness in our lives, it signals an area where we have not fully allowed Christ’s life to take charge. But the good news is that the moment we invite His life into these dark places, the light of His presence floods in. It brings healing, restoration, and direction, and darkness cannot remain in the presence of His light.
As Christ Reigns, His Light Shines
This light does not just expose the darkness in our lives; it transforms them, making us more like Him. We become “the light of the world” (Matthew 5:14) because of the light of Christ shining through us. In addition, this light cannot be extinguished. John 1:5 says
The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
This is a remarkable source of hope and comfort for us as believers especially in times of uncertainty, we know that no attack, sin, sickness, or persecution can overcome the life and the light of Christ that dwells within us. As His life dwells in us, we reflect His light, bringing hope and clarity not only into our own lives but to a dark lost world into which we have been called to shine as light. Hallelujah!
