A Call to Surrender: A Call to a Glorious Life

For years, I hesitated to surrender my life to Christ. I thought Christianity was boring and burdensome. I believed the lie that following God meant giving up joy and freedom. But then I realized, that if it is religion you are chasing, it can feel that way—empty and exhausting. However, when you surrender your life to Christ, it is not about religion, it is about accepting the invitation into a glorious life, the commonwealth of Zion, into fellowship with an innumerable company of angels (Hebrews 12:22-24).

Surrendered life

I will just highlight areas where surrendering to Christ makes all the difference:

Abundant Life

Christ offers more than just survival, He wants us to thrive -He offers abundant life. “I came that they may have life and have it abundantly” (John 10:10). This is not limited to material wealth but encompasses spiritual abundance, peace, and purpose. You are invited to share in the riches of God’s grace, where every need is met, every fear is quieted, and true satisfaction is found (Ephesians 1:3).

A Life of Joy

In Christ, you enter a life of unending joy. It is not the fleeting happiness the world offers which is based on your circumstances, but deep, abiding joy that sustains you. The Bible describes it as joy unspeakable and full of glory. This is the joy that overflows when you fellowship with other believers, bound together in love (Philippians 4:4). You become part of a family of faith where joy is a constant reality, a fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22). As Jesus said, “These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full” (John 15:11).

Comfort and Healing

When you surrender to Christ, you are no longer alone in your afflictions. He is the one “who comforts us in all our affliction” (2 Corinthians 1:3-4). There is a level of comfort human relationships can provide but compared to the comfort of the Holy Spirit, they will just be scratching the surface. The same Jesus who healed the broken-hearted during His ministry (Luke 4:18) continues to heal and restore today. He binds up our wounds and gives us comfort that the world cannot offer. “Come to me, all who labor and are heavily laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28).

Counsel and Direction

One of the greatest blessings of surrendering to Christ is the gift of His counsel. In a world full of confusion and many voices calling you in different directions, He provides clear direction. “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you” (Psalm 32:8). When you surrender to Him, He becomes your guide, leading you through paths of righteousness (Psalm 23:3). Even when darkness covers the whole world, you are assured that the light of His counsel is ever shining upon you (Isaiah 60:2)..
